2026 (special high value Asteroid Occultation Events have dates in red)

Aug 25 - Tue morn 4:17:09am - RECONN Occultation of a G=12.5 star by Trojan asteroid (2207) Antenor for 3.9s, from Russian River. Alt=30. High rank. But this is after my first Astro 3 eve class and before my first Tue classes. Very inconvenient. I'll skip this one.

Aug 27 Thur eve - 99% almost total lunar eclipse in early evening. This is also the first afternoon meeting of Phys 10L
Aug 28 Fri morn - Occultation of a W=14.3 Star by Quaoar, from north of Arctic. Could we see occ by ring(s)? OWc page. 100% uneclipsed moon 56 deg away. Alt=23 at MIRA. But J Irwin shows the star track goes nowhere near the outer ring for us. Not clear where Weywot path is, however.

Aug 31 Mon eve 10:02pm - Occultation of a 10.3 Star for 4.4s by (3614) Tumilty. Wide path "sure thing" for all of our team. Right after Astro 3 lets out - set up 8SE outside 806 classroom building. Planning page.

Sept 5 Sat morn 4:57am - GaiaMoons event on very small asteroid, through Berkeley high rank execept moon is of unknown diameter and could swing the primary easily a diameter away from it's nominal path. Weekend is good, for Jordan and I. 5am is awful. Highly probable we'll skip this. Planning page.

Sep 5 - internet hosting plan expires and you must renew with the options you now desire before this date, else auto-charged.

Sep 9 Wed 4am- Occultation of a G=12.9 mag stary by GaiaMoons (21712) Obaid , from north SC County. Small asteroid. max dur 0.2s for primary, maybe 0.1 for moonlet. Looks very tough.

Sept 11,12,13 - GraniteMan Challenge. Only the bike is official. Swim and Run are solo this year.

Oct 4 - Mt. Diablo Challenge cycling - $85 till 8/31.

Oct 8 Thur 6-9pm - Astro 25 Pre-trip meeting

Oct 12 - 8:06UT, RECONN Occultation of Trojan Asteroid (4754) Pantoos, of 11.1 star for 10s. From Central CA somewhere. Map not given on RECONN site. Look it up on OWc when in range.

Oct 16-18 Fri-Sun: Astro 25 field class at Stanislaus River

Oct 18 - 10hr UT - RECONN Occultation of 16.2 Star by () Asteropaios from CA. Sunday morn; I'll be in the Sierra. Might it be visible??

Oct 25 - 11hr UT - RECON Occultation of 14.9 Star by Mentor for 10s. G=16.4, Mentor=14.2 - very difficult even for MIRA

Nov 9 - 13UT - RECON Occultation of 14.2 Star by (5648) by 15.0 () Axius, for 5.3s, from Central CA

Dec 1 - Dr. Palachek 6:30am

2027

Dec 8 - RECON occultation of a TNO, from the Mt Lassen Area. As of Aug '26, this is the next RECON event on their list that is in CA.
