This would normally be an easy event. However, it is only 6 degrees from the 95% waxing moon, which is a bit tough. However, the altitude isn't bad at 26 deg and the sky clarity today looks decent. 2x setting would give 8 points inside the full duration occultation, which should give good statistics. I'm willing to go for it, and today I "ran" into Jordan at the Wharf to Wharf 10k Race, and she's game for it too. Karl's on the southern limit, and maybe Kirk's interested too, which would give us up to 4 chords and a good mapping for this event. The RUWE is good at 0.75. High confidence this spacing would give good data.
Alt=26, Az=152 in Sagittarius. The target is 6 degrees above and slightly left of the moon.
I'll propose that Karl stay home and try it from there. I meet Jordan at the Pasatiempo park/and/ride, where she carpools with me up to the "Red Cafe" site and I set her up and get her on target and going. Then I continue up to Mtn Charlie Monument to get it from there. Kirk I'd suggest being at the Glenwood site he's used before, or maybe the Wedding Chapel site. The target is in the SSE and should be a good direction from all these sites.

I set Jordan up at the lot below the Red Cafe and then drove up to Mtn Charlie Monument. I got on target easily, and at 1x it looked good enough to leave at 1x. I didn't notice an occultation but a short one isn't out of the question. Jordan was at 8x. I'd have thought that much too bright to see stars, but I have not examined her recording yet. Karl observed and got a recording from home. Not reduced yet.
At 1x, a 0.29s event would last 14 data points at zero. While there are numerous drops to zero throughout the recording, none are consecutive. The data looks most consistent with a miss, but a single point drop to zero can't be ruled out. There is nothing suggestive of a low S/N event in my data.
Observed at 8x, which would give only 2 points inside a max predicted occultation.
Got a miss.
