This is a large asteroid with a wide path and all of the team is inside the path, at a convenient time of night. Mag drop is 0.84 mags from combined 12.8 to 13.7 for the asteroid. The duration is a good long 2.3s so we can afford to make the combined image a little brighter. I advise 4x if skies are clean. 8x if necessary. As a large asteroid, it will be a good candidate to find perhaps an undiscovered moon.

I did this one from home. Got on target and recorded. Don't know if it was a hit or miss. Then rushed to get ready to meet Kirk and head of for the big 1997 NC1 occultation. Looks like a positive, and the wide path would make a miss rather surprising. The duration is poorly determined but in the predicted 2-3s range. The predicted event time is inside the Pyote detected occultation. The depth is not to "sky", as predicted. The duration is a bit longer than expected, but the confidence limits keep the predicted max duration well within.

Notes: I reduced this event right after I reduced the Mani event. For both events, I used the "Jordan" newer Watec 910hx. For this Holmia event, I still had the magnetic puck and it's coils of antenna wire involved as per usual. I noticed as I reduced it in PyMovie that there was vertical banding, to the point that I re-did the analysis using the horizontal and vertical median filters. Using the filter made a significant difference in improved data quality. And - eliminating the antenna altogether made for a much cleaner image with ~no banding and no need or desire to use the vertical / horizontal median filter. So -- has it been the coiled wire and magnet living under the Watec causing trouble all these years? I won't firmly conclude yet, because I also did Mani from a much darker site vs in my driveway with city and local lights to deal with here for Holmia.
