Danika and I drove as far  as necessary to get above the rising fog tops. We ended up at Sunlit Lane and the airfield in the gravel, and 5 minutes after the event we had the fog engulf us. But it was clear during the event. We were out of the path and saw a miss, alas. Reductions awaiting, as a very short event might have been invisible visually live. Kirk skipped it, with fog blanketing Santa Cruz. Karl, at 1600 ft elevation, got fogged out, before setting up.

I had to drive fast to get to our site with a decent cushion of time. Too bad the fog wiped out all sites closer to the actual path. At the airfield we were well beyond the 1-sigma northern limit, unfortunately. We'd need a strong shift to get anything. Still, it went smoothly. Danika and I hurried to set up the 8SE scope and OccBox and computer, got on target, and got the recording at 1x, with gain set to 39 down from normal max=41. The star looked steady in brightness. I did not see any hint of an occultation visually. Only 5 minutes after the occultation, the rising fog tops got to us, and the next 45 minutes of photography there at the airfield were through variable deepening fog. I got the 8SE on the moon, and Danika got some great pix with her iPhone up against the rubber eyecup of the Q70 eyepiece.
