The Occultation of a W=r=12.9 Star by Asteroid Hokutosei

OWc page

This is a decent event primarily because the duration is very long; at 8.4 seconds. The r=12.9 magnitude looks better than the 13.3 magnitude given on OWc. In a clear dark sky with fog below, it should be quite easy to get good data. The path also crosses Santa Cruz, but misses Karl. The path is wide but only hits Santa Cruz and the westernmost side of the mountains before heading out onto Monterey Bay. We won't get full duration; maybe only 2s for us. I have staked out a site at the end of Pineridge Rd, deeper in the shadow than Sunlit Lane by a bit.  Kirk will be at the Eco Reserve.

Alt=22, Az=146 in Capricorn, just to the right of the middle of the "smile" of Capricorn.

Kirk and I both got recordings. I was at PineRidge culdesac, Kirk at the Eco reserve.
