Gene's Gallery

Gene took far more than the bare minimum requirements for the course, and did a great deal of careful work using all the tools he could find. Very nice work, and good detailed descriptions on all his processing steps. A good scientist always documents his work completely and carefully!

Becky's Gallery

An experienced Astro 9'er, Becky's photos were labored over with painstaking care on the computers in room 705. That care paid off beautifully. Good artistic choices, excellent decisions on getting the colors accurately and getting the maximum signal to noise on the final picture. Great work!

Matt's Gallery (all rec'vd Dec 17)

Matt was another hard worker. I was particularly impressed with his 3 hour marathon in a thin jacket in sub-freezing temperatures near the end of the semester, getting some great raw material on the Plieades and the Orion Nebula. Very nice work.

Lily's Gallery

Lily also comes from an art background, and labored great care on her images. Unfortunately, there was one computer in room 705, now knicknamed "The Evil Computer", which threw fits at unpredictable times in Photoshop and CCDOPS, but rarely enough that Lily was never sure she hadn't just hit a wrong key. But no, it was clear by the end of the semester that the computer itself had "an issue". Maybe a bad memory segment, or something. It did slow things down unfortunately. I got the final images only on finals night.
